About us

Helping People By Literacy

Literacy & Evangelism Benin (LEB) is a Non-Governmental Non-Profit Organization which equips churches, ecclesiastical and para-ecclesiastical organizations with teaching materials, especially primers with biblical content in African languages and curricula for learning the French and English languages .

Literacy Through Mobile Applications Project

To enable the people of French speaking Africa to easily access a Bible-content French curriculum through the development of mobile applications. In the future, this will enable millions of French-speaking people to learn to read, write and read the French Bible on a daily basis.

Impact Stories

Being able to read and write in their mother tongue has changed their lives.

I received the most important gift of my life: the Bible in my own language – the Lokpa language. I attended literacy classes because I wanted to read like my literacy class teacher. One day I read this verse from the Book of Mathew: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Mathew 11: 28). This was the part of the Bible that changed my life two (2) years ago. I was an animist and Voodoo was my God. I was weary and burdened by the sacrifices for Voodoo. But now, I am very happy to read the Bible by myself.

I attended this literacy class because I wanted just to be a good model for my village. I’m a chief of this village and I wanted to encourage young men who didn’t have the opportunity to go to school or to know how to read and write. Today, I have received the Bible. Our teacher used to read it to us after each class. I’m very happy to get this book in my hands. This Bible is not only for my family, I can lend it to someone who wants to read it for himself or for a group of people.
